I am passionate about keeping food simple and allowing the quality of the produce we work with to do the talking. It was essential for the success of the restaurant to engage a Head Chef who is as passionate about local produce 

and traditional breeds, who believes like me in understanding how the animals are raised to create the flavour and to ensure the sustainability of
historic local Devon breeds.

Our Team

Elly Wentworth - Head Chef

Having grown up in South West, Elly Wentworth has been cooking since she was 13 and after studying Professional Cookery at City College Plymouth, she first worked at the 3 AA rosette Tanner Restaurant  in Plymouth under Chris Tanner and James Tanner and went on to eventually work in 3 one Michelin star kitchens -The Elephant under Simon Hulstone, The Bybrook at the Manor House under Richard Davies and Restaurant Hywell Jones at Lucknam Park.

With that wealth of experience, Elly believes that accomplishments only come with hard work and she has proven that having competed in the prestigious Royal Academy of Culinary Arts awards and was one of only four chef's to be given an Award of Excellence and coming runner up in 2016 Professional Masterchef.

At The Angel Elly is focusing on using local ingredients  in the best possible way, maximising the flavour, creating a unique dining experience 

 With the history of The Angel, under the great success and leadership of Joyce Molyneux we very much wanted the next chapter of The Angel to be led by one of the top female rising culinary stars.

Craig Akehurst – Pastry Chef

Trained at Westminster College and then gaining valuable experience working in award winning restaurants in the capital.

We are delighted to have a traditional Pastry Chef as part of our team.

Jordan Wiltshire - Front of House

After studying at South Downs College, Jordan had the privilege of completing Ten out Ten Hospitality Management Training Scheme working at some great properties including Rick Stein's, Lucknam Park, Chewton Glen, Penny Hill Park Hotel and Spa and Mallory Court.

Having worked at Rick Stein's and then Lucknam Park after the training scheme. Jordan was delighted with the opportunity to work at The Angel.

We are currently recruiting for our Front of House Team. Full and Part time positions available. Come work alongside colleagues who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service. 

Experience is preferred but not required.
